This is one record Baahubali 2 couldn’t break and that belongs to Shah Rukh Khan…
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has already created a furor at the box office. The swords and sandals saga broke almost all records and became the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema. It also became the first Indian film to earn over Rs 1000 crore at the box office. The film has left behind all Indian films as far as business is concerned and the surprising as well as shocking factor is its unthinkable run at Bollywood box office, being a South Indian dubbed film. It comfortably beat the likes of mighty Khans of Bollywood, be it Aamir Khan’s Dangal’s domestic box office or Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s box office, two of the biggest hits of Bollywood.
Even though Shah Rukh Khan’s box office standing has taken a beating as far as final numbers of any of his recent film is concerned, the silver lining is the fact that he still possess the star power and can pull audiences to the theatre, that has been evident with the opening day figures of his recent films, even the one that flopped (FAN) or clashed with another superstar’s film (Raees).
And that’s why his fans have a reason to rejoice. While Baahubali 2 has broken possibly each and every record held by biggest of blockbusters of Bollywood, featuring superstars like Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, there is one record that it couldn’t beat and that belongs to Shah Rukh Khan and his 2014 hit, Happy New Year.
Yes, Baahubali 2 opened to a thunderous response in its Hindi dubbed version but couldn’t get past Shah Rukh Khan’s opening day record of Happy New Year.
The opening day collection of Happy New Year was Rs 42.62 cr and Baahubali 2 (Hindi) was Rs 41 crore. Hence Baahubali 2 couldn’t get past through the might of Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan still remains Box Office King when it comes to top opening..
